We have had to make a last-minute change to our original practice schedule & locations. Below will be the new schedule and practice locations for our Tuesday/Thursday practices. (Monday advanced practices will stay the same)
Pre-K & Kindergarten - 6:00 to 6:45 PM at SUNRISE MIDDLE SCHOOL
1st & 2nd Grade - 7:00 to 7:45 PM at SUNRISE MIDDLE SCHOOL
3rd to 5th Grade - 6:00 to 7:15 PM at KEARNEY HIGH SCHOOL
6th to 8th Grade - 7:30 to 8:45 PM at KEARNEY HIGH SCHOOL
This decision has been made due to extremely high registration numbers. Currently, we are 50+ wrestlers higher than our 6-year average and 40+ wrestlers more than our highest season ever. With the bulk of these registrations happening in the last 10 days or so. This is a GREAT problem to have but was going to put a strain on how effectively & safely we could run practices. We will continue to evaluate how this format is working and make necessary adjustments as needed.
We are aware that there are a few families that have kids that will need to be dropped off at both Sunrise and Kearney High at the same time. For those, we are recommending that you drop off the older kids first at Kearney High as there will be coaches already there working on transitioning from the High School practice to the Matcat Practices.
We are also aware that there will also be families that will now have kids that might be in both PreK/K practice and the 1st/2nd practice. For those, you can either choose to keep them separated and attend both practices OR you may choose to either bring the older kid down to the 1st practice (or vise versa). Both practices for that age division will look 95% the same, with the same exact instruction happening.
